People from Chalitabunia Union of Rangabali in Patuakhali formed a human chain at front of the National Press Club in the capital on Friday demanding immediate actions to prevent river erosion.
They said the collapse of the embankments affected their lands and crops which need immediate actions.
At the event, they also placed five-point demands, including building sustainable river embankments and switch gates and rehabilitation of affected families.
Former Patuakhali Science and Technology University vice-chancellor Abdul Latif Masum, Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chalitabunia unit president Bahauddin Howlader, among others, addressed the event.
