Chairman of the Mongla Port Authority Rear Admiral Shaheen Rahman has inaugurated the Mongla Port Tree Plantation Campaign 2025 by planting a Delonix Regia sapling on the MPA headquarters premises in Bagerhat.

The port member for finance and director for administration also planted flower saplings on the MPA premises, said a press release on Thursday.


The inauguration ceremony was also attended by director for board, harbour master, chief finance and accounts officer, chief engineer, chief hydrographer, director for traffic, chief security officer, chief audit officer, chief medical officer and other staffs of the port.

Shaheen Rahman said that being located in the coastal area, Mongla Port was operated by facing various natural disasters, including cyclones and tidal waves.

‘Mongla Port will play a leading role in building a green Bangladesh and protecting the natural environment by planting about 2,000 saplings at various points, including the headquarters of the port,’ he said.

He also added, ‘It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure proper care of the trees that have been planted in the past years and the trees that will be planted now.’
