
The Newspaper Owners’ Association of Bangladesh on Tuesday felicitated Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman on the daily’s winning three awards in INMA Global Media Awards 2025.
The daily received recognition as South Asia’s best media outlet for its courageous journalism during the July mass uprising, young reader’s engagement, and various subsequent initiatives.
NOAB president AK Azad, vice-president ASM Shahidullah Khan, the daily Jugantor and Jamuna Television director Shamim Islam, the Financial Express editor Shamsul Huq Zahid, the daily Bonik Barta editor Dewan Hanif Mahmud, the daily Samakal editor Shahed Mohammad Ali and the weekly Counterpoint editor Zafar Sobhan were present at the reception held at the Samakal office in the capital Dhaka.
The NOAB president in a written statement said that the Prothom Alo editor was a leading figure in journalism in Bangladesh.
The INMA awards were presented on May 22 at the World Congress of News Media held in New York of the US.
Matiur Rahman received the awards.
