
The International Standard University held the fresher reception for the newly enrolled students of spring 2025 at the IUB Mohakhali campus in Dhaka on Thursday.
Under the chairmanship of ISU vice-chancellor Professor Abdul Awal Khan, IUB board of trustees chairman AKM Mosharraf Hussain was present as chief guest while the BoT member secretary Hasnat Mosharraf was present as guest of honour at the programme, said a press release on Friday.
Abdul Awal Khan said, ‘To build a successful career, it is essential to focus on studies during one’s educational journey.’
‘ISU is being run with an international standard curriculum. Both teachers and students must work together cooperatively to move the university forward,’ he said, expressing hope that, in the near future, this university would become one of the top universities in Bangladesh.
Highlighting ISU’s proper initiatives to enhance students’ proficiency in the English language, the VC also mentioned that the university was committed to creating and maintaining a student-friendly environment through modern classrooms, laboratories, qualified teachers, as well as theoretical, practical, and co-curricular activities.
Hasnat Mosharraf emphasised the need for a unique identity in today’s competitive world. ‘Set yourself apart—that’s how you stay relevant.
Mentioning that success requires more than knowledge, he added, ‘It needs humility, leadership, and a thirst for learning.’
He also urged youth to focus on self-growth over comparison. ‘Outperform your past self—that’s the real achievement. Learn, don’t judge.’
Member of the board of trustees Faheem Mosharraf, ISU treasurer Professor HTM Quader Newaz and dean of the faculty of business studies, Professor Monjur Morshed Mahmud, dean of the faculty of engineering and technology Professor Md Abul Kashem were also present as special guests at the programme.Â
Convener of the organising committee Professor Mohammad Ali gave a welcome speech at the ceremony.
Mayesha Afia Jarin, lecturer, department of law and Nafisa Tabassum, lecturer, department of English, jointly anchored the ceremony.
Chairpersons of the different departments, teachers, students, and administrative officers also attended the programme.
The programme featured cultural programme organised by the ISU students.
