
The Border Guard Bangladesh arrested an Indian youth on Monday in the border area along Chunarughat upazila in Habiganj district on charges of illegal entry.
The arrested is identified as Miton Das, 24, son of Jaharlal Das of the Shilchar town in the Assam state of India, the BGB said.
BGB-55 Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Tanzilur Rahmam confirmed to ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that Miton was arrested on Monday noon.
He said that a patrol team of the battalion arrested the Indian national in Mangalia area about two kilometres inside Bangladesh from the border pillar 1952 at Chunarughat.
‘1,593 in Indian rupee, 1,950 in Bangladeshi taka, one bottle of Indian liquor, a mobile phone, his Aadhaar card, PAN card and ID card, two wristwatches, an ear bud, a wallet, a mobile charger and a handbag were recovered from his possession after searching by the battalion personnel,’ the BGB official said.
The motive for his entry to Bangladesh could not be known immediately, he said, adding that the arrested was handed over to the local police station.
Chunarughat police station officer-in-charge Nur-E Alam told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they produced the Indian youth to Habiganj judicial magistrate court on Tuesday morning after filing a case against him and the court ordered that the youth be sent to jail.
