Two people, including a hotel manager and its security guard, were arrested for allegedly raping a female ready-made garment factory worker at the hotel in Sylhet early Sunday.

The arrested are Luthfur Rahman, manager of Diamond Residential Hotel at Jamuna Market near Kadamtali Bus Terminal under the Dakshin Surma police station in the city, and Khijir Ahmed, a security guard of the hotel, police said.

The police said that the victim reached Kadamtoli Bus Terminal at around 10:00pm on a bus from Dhaka on the Eid day.

At that time, a youth named Rifat assured the victim of arranging a room at Diamond Residential Hotel to stay overnight as she failed to catch any bus to go home.

Then Rifat took her to the hotel and rented a room for her, the police said quoting the victim.

Later, the hotel manager, its night guard, Rifat and another youth named Tanvir entered her room at around 3:00am on Sunday after breaking the lock of the door and raped the victim one after another until 6:00am, she alleged.

Later at around 10:00am, the manager forced the victim out of the hotel after she got sick.

On information, a team of the Dakshin Surma police station rescued her from the bus terminal area at about noon.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam said that the victim was admitted to the One-stop Crisis Centre of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment and medical tests.

‘The hotel manager and its security guard were also arrested on Sunday afternoon,’ he added.

The SMP officer said that the arrested were produced before a magistrate court on Monday morning after filing  a case with the Dakshin Surma police station in this regard against four people and the court ordered to send the arrested to jail.
