A leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital Saturday afternoon, hours after he was hacked indiscriminately by unidentified assailants near his ancestral home under Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha.
The deceased, Ilias Mia, 40, son of late Abdul Bepari, is the joint-convener of Sarbananda Union unit of the BNP.
Sundarganj officer-in-charge Abdul Hakim Azad said that Ilias died at RMCH at about 4:00pm on Saturday.
He said that the assailants attacked him near his house at about 12:30am on Saturday while he was returning from his fish farm.聽聽
The OC said that no case was filed and none was arrested in this connection until 11:30pm on Saturday.
