
The police on Tuesday morning recovered five human skulls and several human bones wrapped in two bags at a market at Dewanganj in Jamalpur.
A person named Manik, 40, was arrested in this regard, said the police.
Confirming the matter, additional deputy commissioner for Dewanganj circle in Jamalpur Md Saiful Islam said that the human skulls and the remains were recovered at about 10:00am.
He said that Manik was a professional thief who stole the human skulls and remains from different graveyards.
According to police and local people, the two black bags were seen in a shop at the rice market in the municipal town early in the morning.
When the people opened the bag, they saw a skull and then informed the police.
A team of Dewanganj model police station recovered the school bags, where they found five human skulls and several bones.
‘Regular police patrol team saw a suspected person at about 3:00am on Tuesday and Dewanganj model police station officer-in-charge, along with other officers arrested him suspecting him to be a member of a theft gang,’ ADC Saiful said.
When the human skulls and bones were recovered in the morning, the police interrogated him, where he confessed that he stole those from a nearby graveyard.
‘Based on his information, we went to the graveyard and found that many of the graves were found opened,’ ADC Saiful said, adding that there are several such cases filed against Manik with different police stations.
