The Dhaka Senior Special Judge Court on Tuesday ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission to seize plots and flats of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s defence and security adviser Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former chief of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence Major General Saiful Alam, and their family members over graft allegations.

The court also imposed a travel ban on former public administration minister Farhad Hossain, former secretary Helaluddin Ahmed and journalist Munni Saha and their family members over graft allegations.

The court’s judge Md Jakir Hossain passed the order, allowing a separate petition submitted by the ACC, said commission deputy director for public relations Aktarul Islam.

The court ordered the anti-corruption commission to seize assets of Tarique Ahmed Siddique, his wife Shaheen Siddique and daughter Nurin Siddique that include a seven-storey house and three flats in the same area in the capital’s Baridhara DOHS, two flats each covering 3,600 square feet with four car parking spaces, four five-katha plots in Purbachal and one plot in Bashundhara residential area.

In its plea the commission said that it was conducting an inquiry against Siddique and his family members over allegations of amassing huge illegal wealth, but the accused were trying to shift the ownership of the properties to evade justice.

The court also asked the ACC to seize a nine-storey property in Ashulia, a flat in Pallabi and 23 decimals of land and freeze three bank accounts owned by former DGFI director general Major General Saiful Alam and his wife Lubna Afroze over graft allegations.

According to the ACC plea, it is conducting an inquiry into allegations that they misused power, engaged in various irregularities and corruption to amass illegal wealth.

Meanwhile, the same court imposed a travel ban on former public administration minister Farhad Hossain and his wife Monalisa Islam over graft allegations.

The ACC petition stated that it was conducting an inquiry into the allegations brought against the couple of amassing illegal wealth and purchasing property in Canada with illicit funds.

‘We have learned that Farhad and Monalia are trying to hand over their ill-gotten properties and flee the country. So, travel ban should be imposed on them immediately,’ said the ACC plea.

The court also imposed a travel ban on former Election Commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed over allegations of adding names of 55,310 Rohingya people in voter lists through corruption and misuse of power.

The same court also imposed a travel ban on journalist Munni Saha, her husband Md Kabir Hossain, her mother Appel Rani Saha and her brothers Topon Kumar Saha and Pronob Kumar Saha in connection with graft allegations.
