A sub-inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan Police was killed after being hit by a bus in the capital鈥檚 Shahjahanpur area on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Kamrul Islam, a sub-inspector posted at Motijheel Police Station.
The accident took place at about 8:15pm when SI Kamrul was heading to his workplace by a motorcycle from his Sabujbagh residence.
As he descended from the Shahjahanpur flyover, a bus of Balaka Paribahan hit him from behind, Shahjahanpur Police Station officer-in-charge Jahangir Hossain told the media.
He was critically injured and taken to Mugda Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police detained the driver and seized the bus from the scene shortly after the incident.
A case was filed with Shahjahanpur Police Station on early Tuesday.
