
The Anti-Corruption Commission on Sunday filed a case against former expatriates welfare and overseas employment and Local former local government, rural development and cooperative minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽35.18 crore.
The commission also found suspicious transaction of Tk聽99.21 crore and $11.33 lakh in 15 bank accounts of Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, said ACC director general (prevention) Md Akhtar Hossain at a press briefing.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, the ACC started an inquiry into allegations of amassing illegal wealth against Mosharraf, also former Awami League lawmaker from Faridpur-3 constituency.
It was reported that Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain is residing in Switzerland. His son, Khandaker Mashroor Hossain Mitu, was the former husband of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina鈥檚 daughter, Saima Wazed Putul.
Mosharraf was elected as a lawmaker three times and he served as the minister of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives from 2009 to 2014, and as the minister of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment from 2014 to 2018.
