
A flag-off ceremony for the Mount Kilimanjaro expedition 2025 was held at Cloud Bistro at Panthapath Crossing in the capital Dhaka on Saturday.
Located in Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro, also a snow-capped volcano, is Africa鈥檚 tallest mountain at about 5,895 metres and the world鈥檚 largest free-standing mountain.
The mountain will be climbed by three emerging Bangladeshi mountaineers Prabal Barman, Chinmoe Saha Digonto and Shayla Sharmin Shanta.
Their journey will start from Monday as part of their Mission Seven Summits organised in association with Bangladesh Astronomical Association, said Bangladesh Astronomical Association chair Moshurl Amin at the flag-off ceremony while Prabal Barman and Chinmoe Saha Digonto also spoke.聽
Established in 1988, the Bangladesh Astronomical Association support youths in travelling, mountaineering and expedition besides practising astronomy, said Moshurl Amin. 聽 聽
The Mission Seven Summits, the highest mountains on each of the seven continents of the earth including Mount Kosciuszko, Denali, Elbrus, Aconcagua, Mount Vinson and Everest aimed to inspire Bangladeshi youth to travel, keep fit and avoid drugs. 聽
Prabal Barman said that they planned to create social awareness, youth development and global connection by this expedition.聽
