Bangladesh University of Professionals celebrated the 126th anniversary of birth of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam with due solemnity in a festive atmosphere at the Bijay Auditorium of the university in Dhaka on Wednesday.
To spread the spirit and values of Nazrul among the young generation, the BUP organised a discussion and a cultural programme, said a press release on Thursday.
BUP pro-vice-chancellor Professor Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain graced the event as chief guest. He highlighted Nazrul鈥檚 revolutionary spirit, his deep commitment to humanity, egalitarianism and his contributions to literature and music.
鈥楰azi Nazrul Islam stands as a timeless inspiration in our national history and gave voice to the oppressed, the deprived and the downtrodden,鈥� he said.
The cultural programme featured songs, poems and recitations of the poet鈥檚 works, paying tribute to his life and legacy. BUP high officials, faculty members, staffs and students were also present in the programme.
