
At least nine people, including a woman, were injured as a group of robbers attacked an ambulance carrying the body of a man and his relatives in the Tilpara area under Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbria Thursday night.
The injured people are ambulance driver Firuz Miah, its owner Khalil Miah, and the deceased鈥檚 relatives Rasel Miah, Salek Miah, Nahid Miah, Alamgir Miah, Md Salauddin, Aleya Begum and Ali Newaz.聽
The robbers allegedly beat the body.
The police and the victims said that a cancer patient, Sadar Ali, of Mokbulpur village under Nasirnagar upazila died in Dhaka Tuesday night and the relatives had been taking his body by ambulance to his village home.
They said that a group of robbers waylaid the ambulance when it reached the Tilpara area, beat them up, vandalized the ambulance, and looted 10 mobile phones and more than Tk 50,000.
Deceased Sadar Ali鈥檚 son Alamgir Miah alleged that the robbers beat his father鈥檚 body.
Nasirnagar police station officer-in-charge Md Khairul Alam said that filing a case in this connection was under process.
None was, however, arrested until Friday evening, the OC Said.
