
Unit-1 of 525 MW Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant in Dinajpur has resumed operation after two days of closer, an official said on Friday.
The 125 MW unit resumed power generation at 12 noon on the day after necessary maintenance and started power supply to the national grid from 2 pm, chief engineer of the plant Abu Bakkar Siddiqui said.
The unit is producing 70 to 75 MW power below to its 125 MW capacity, he said.
The plant requires 700-800 metric tonnes of coal every day, he said.
Unit-1 of went out of operation in the night of May
21 after leak in the boiler tube.
Production in Unit-2 with 125 MW capacity remained suspended from November 2020 due to mechanical faults.
Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant has another unit with capacity of generating 275 MW power.
