Sylhet WDB executive engineer Dipak Ranjan Dash, however, said in the afternoon that recent heavy rains inside the country would not have caused flooding if the onrush of hilly water from the upstream region had not come down heavily.

‘All major rivers in the region are flowing under the danger marks,’ he added.
