
Soforon Foundation has recently held a workshop titled Nirban on the mental healthcare of the survivors of the July uprising at the BRAC Centre of Mohakhali in Dhaka.
The chief guest at the workshop was the survivors of the July uprising, who wanted to build the foundation of a just society with their courage and sacrifice, said a press release on Sunday.Â
The guests of honour present in the discussion were ADN Telecom chairman Asif Mahmud, women’s rights activist and writer Barrister Miti Sanjana and BDJobs director for marketing and sales Prakash Roy Chowdhury.
Soumik Dutta, executive director of the Soforon Foundation, presented his speech on behalf of the organisation at the workshop, which was moderated by Kajal Abdullah, executive member of the organisation.
Psychologists and psychiatrists conducted participatory sessions throughout the day to learn how to care for the participants of the July uprising and strengthen their mental strength by applying the latest psychological methods.
The discussants at the workshop emphasized the need for supportive strategies, multi-stakeholder initiatives, and rehabilitation systems to ensure the mental well-being of the fighters of the mass uprising.
Soumik Dutta said, ‘Those injured in the July uprising are still facing serious psychological trauma. Along with physical treatment, mental health care is also very important. The primary goal of this initiative is to help them return to their normal lives.’
The strategic partner of the workshop was Mass Literacy Campaign, the event partner was Cognitively Yours, and the research partner was Grow.
On February 27, the Soforon Foundation organised a similar workshop, in which 30 July warriors participated.
