He will be buried at the family graveyard at Ghatail in Tangail, following his second namaz-e-janaza, Shah Mun added.

The clash between two groups of the pro-Bangladesh Nationalist Party professional leaders at the IEB injured over three dozens, including six police members.

Shafiqul, also a former convener of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology unit, was injured in the clash between the followers of IEB president Riazul Islam, also a former BNP science and technology affairs secretary, and former IEB honourary general secretary Muhammad Quayyum, also former JCD BUET Titumir Hall unit joint convener, said police officials and two groups leaders.

Shafiqul was follower of Muhammad Quayyum.

IEB honourary general secretary Md Sabbir Mustafa Khan filed the case with the Shahbagh police station against 165 people, including 15 named and 100-150 unnamed, over the allegations of attacking engineers in an attempt to foil the AGM.

Both groups are alleging one another over the clash.

Muhammad Quayyum said that Shafiqul was an expert professional and died due to the dirty politicisation of one of the ancient professional body, IEB.

Quayyum also alleged that the police took the side of the Riazul group and framed them in the case but the police denied the allegations.
