The bodies of two brothers, who had gone missing while bathing, were recovered from the Brahmaputra river at Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ibrahim, 12, and Imran Hossain, 08.


The bodies were recovered around 7 am from Paler Ghat area of Hatia Union, around three kilometers downstream from where they went missing, said police.

According to locals, the two boys went the river near their house for bathing in Char Jalangarkuthi village in the upazila and drowned.

The boys could not be traced immediately despite extensive search efforts by the fire service teams and locals.

On Monday morning, local residents spotted the bodies floating and recovered those.

Zillur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ulipur Police Station, said that police were sent to the scene.

The bodies would be handed over to the family members, the OC said.
