
The department of economics at Southeast University in collaboration with the Centre for Zakat Management has recently organised a seminar titled SEU-CZM 20 Taka Sadaqah Fund: A Welfare Initiative to promote student welfare through small and voluntary contributions at the SEU in Dhaka.
Southeast University vice-chancellor Professor Yusuf Mahbubul Islam delivered the keynote address at the seminar, said a press release on Friday.
He emphasised the significance of establishing a sadaqah fund to provide support to financially challenged students and encouraged the culture of giving even in small amounts.
Special Guests Professor Mokhtar Ahmad and Arastoo Khan from CZM discussed the values and principles of sadaqah and shared CZM鈥檚 ongoing efforts in institutionalising charitable giving.
The seminar was chaired by Professor Md Mofazzal Hossain, pro-VC of SEU, and was attended by registrar, deans, heads of the departments, faculty members, officials and students of the university.
