The Planning Commission at an extended meeting on Tuesday set the size of annual development programme for the 2025-26 financial year at Tk聽2,30,000 crore.
The new ADP is smaller than the original size of ADP, Tk聽2,65,000 crore, for the outgoing 2024-25 financial year, taken by the past Awami League government before being ousted in a mass uprising on August 5, 2024.
The FY26 ADP is, however, Tk聽14,000 crore higher than the revised ADP of Tk聽2,16,000 crore for FY25.
The interim government that assumed power on August 8 past year trimmed down the FY25 ADP by Tk聽49,000 crore to shun unnecessary and politically motivated projects.
Presided over by planning adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud, the extended meeting held in the city鈥檚 Agargaon area on Tuesday also approved the availability of Tk聽1,44,000 crore from the local sources for the ADP.
The remaining Tk 88,000 crore of the programme will come from the foreign sources as loans, said planning ministry officials.
As usual, sectors such local government, transports and communication, and energy and power have been proposed to have allocations of about Tk聽1,28,000 crore, more than half the total outlay.
The ministry officials said that the Planning Commission would place the new ADP before a meeting of the National Economic Council, seeking its approval.
The NEC meeting is expected to be held next week, they added.
