Barrister Abdur Razzaq, senior lawyer and former assistant secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, passed away at a hospital in Dhaka on Sunday.

He was undergoing treatment for cancer. He was 71.


His son, Imran Abdullah Siddiq, confirmed to 抖阴精品 that Razzaq breathed his last at around 4:10pm at Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhanmondi.

A prominent figure in both legal and political circles, Razzaq left Bangladesh for London on December 17, 2013, following the filing of two explosive-related cases against him during the Awami League government鈥檚 tenure.

He returned to the country in August 2024, nearly 11 years later, following a student-led mass uprising that forced Sheikh Hasina to step down and flee to India.

Barrister Razzaq was widely known for serving as chief defence counsel at the International Crimes Tribunal.
