The national power grid failed and remained out of order for more than an hour in 21 south-western districts of the country on Saturday.

The electricity distribution authority confirmed that there was no power in the 21 districts from 5:49pm till 6:52pm on the day due to the grid failure.

Manjul Kumar Swarnakar, executive engineer of the West Zone Power Distribution Company, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the vast region experienced a blackout due to the grid failure.

Akhtaruzzaman Palash, executive engineer of the Barishal Power Grid of WZPDCO, also said that the problem arose because of the grid failure outside the Barishal division.

‘Since it is outside the Barishal division, we have not yet been able to  specify where the problem occurred.

‘However, power has returned now. Damage of the power outage would also be assessed,’ he added in the evening.
