The police arrested a youth allegedly for attempting to rape a madrassah student at Belkuchi upazila in Sirajganj on Saturday.
The accused is Azmir Hossain, 25.
Local people beat him and later handed him over to the police.
Confirming the matter, Belkuchi police officer-in-charge Jakaria Hossain said that the incident took place in the Saat Rastar Mor area at Belkuchi on Saturday afternoon.
Later, victim鈥檚 father filed a case against the accused, the OC said.
鈥楢s the incident of the mob violence circulated on social media, police rushed to the scene and rescued the young man,鈥� OC Jakaria said, adding that police have brought him to the police station.
There were several similar complaints against him before, added the police officer.
