A 77-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in front of Khajur Union Parishad Office under Mahadebpur in Naogaon on Wednesday.
The deceased was Siraj Ali, hailing from Sonakuri village in the upazila.
According to witnesses, Siraj Ali was traveling to Mahadebpur Bazaar in a battery-powered van. As the vehicle approached the Khajur area, it swerved to avoid a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction and fell into a roadside ditch.
Siraj Ali died on the spot while two other passengers sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Officer-in-charge of Mahadebpur police station, Shahin Reza said, 鈥楢lthough no formal complaint has been filed so far, we will conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate legal action once a complaint is received.鈥�
