Local people and student leaders on Wednesday demanded justice for a victim of Bangladesh Nationalist Party factional clash and an end to grabbing and anarchy in Lakshmipur.
During a human chain at Osman Chattar in Lakshmipur, organised under the banner of conscious citizens of Raipur, they demanded justice for BNP activist Saij Uddin Dewan, who was beaten and hacked to death in a clash between two factions of the party over establishing supremacy in the Khaserhat area under Raipur upazila in Lakshmipur district on April 7.
Students’ Federation of Bangladesh central committee secretary for school affairs Hasan Al Mehedi demanded that all those involved in the murder of Saij Uddin must be arrested immediately and brought to justice.
‘Students and common people will resist those who want to create chaos by committing violence, grabbing and anarchy,’ said Mehedi.
Student leader Tanvir Hasan Sohel said that those who were trying to grab local markets and landing stations of Raipur after August 5 had forgotten the history of the student-led mass uprising.
Social activist Nasir Al Imran said that local people must be aware so that no one could hamper peace in the area.
Student Against Discrimination central leader Nazmul Hasan conducted the human chain.
