Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology vice-chancellor Mohammad Zoynal Abedin on Friday filed a general diary over fraudulence using his name and picture.
The general diary, lodged with the Gazipur Sadar police station, alleged that an unidentified person created a WhatsApp account using Zoynal鈥檚 name and photo and requested financial assistance from the VC鈥檚 known people.
After knowing the incident, the VC tried to contact the accused through various means on Thursday but he could not reach the accused, stated Zoynal.
Zoynal expressed concerns that the perpetrator could cause harm to his life and property and damage his and his family鈥檚 social reputation circulating objectionable images on social media.
Along with filing the general diary, he urged the relevant authorities to take legal action against the perpetrator.
Gazipur Sadar police officer-in-charge Mehedi Hasan said that the complaint was taken seriously and necessary actions would be taken after an investigation.
