
The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday filed two separate cases against former Jatiya Sangsad chief whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury and his wife Jinat Parven Chowdhury on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽71 crore.
The two cases were filed with the commission鈥檚 integrated district office in Dhaka-1, said ACC director general (prevention) Akhtar Hossain at a press briefing at the commission鈥檚 headquarters in the capital Dhaka.
Noor-e-Alam, also a former member of parliament from the Madaripur-1 constituency, was sued on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽57.49 crore.
There is also allegation of suspicious transactions of Tk聽232 crore in eight bank accounts belonging to him, according to the case statement.
Jinat was sued on charges of amassing wealth worth Tk聽13.81 crore beyond known sources of income.
According to the case statement, Jinat amassed the illegal wealth with the help of his husband. Noor-E-Alam is also an accused in the case.
