Border Guard Bangladesh organised an ‘Azan and Qirat Competition’ to encourage its soldiers to practice with correct pronunciation and melodious voice.

BGB director general Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui distributed prizes and trophies among the winners at a ceremony at the BGB central mosque in Dhaka’s Pilkhana on Friday, said a release on Saturday.


Soldiers and civilian officers of all levels of BGB were present on the occasion.

The three-day competition started on Wednesday where 38 contestants from different sectors of the BGB participated.

Lance Naek Md Abdul Gafur Khan, who works at Mymensingh Battalion secured the first place in Azan competition while Sipahi Ibrahim Kamal of Kushtia Battalion got the second prize.

Sipahi Mohammad Ali Hossain of the Nildumur Battalion under Khulna sector secured the first position in Qirat competition and Sipahi Md Ismail Hossain of Ramu Battalion received the second prize.
