The government on Thursday promoted 196 deputy secretaries, mostly belonging to the administration cadre of the Bangladesh Civil Service 24th batch, to the rank of joint secretary.
All the newly promoted joint secretaries were made officers on special duty at the public administration ministry.
Many of them will have to serve in the same positions as the number of joint secretaries has already been beyond the approved posts in the organogram for the civil bureaucracy, according to officials concerned.
The public administration ministry issued two separate gazette notifications regarding promotion of the officers with immediate effect.
The newly promoted officers were asked to submit their joining letters directly to the senior secretary of the Public Administration Ministry or through email [email protected].
