Two people, including a child, succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the HDU unit of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on Saturday.

The deceased were rickshaw puller Md Hannan, 40, and one and a half year-old Sumaiya, said resident surgeon of the institute, Dr Shaon Bin Rahman.


Earlier on March 3, eight people, including women and children, sustained burn injuries in a gas explosion caused by a leakage at Dhakeshwari-2 in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj Sadar.

The incident occurred when a gas line leakage led to a sudden explosion, engulfing the victims in flames.

They were immediately taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
