At least three people were killed and three more were injured in a collision between an ambulance and a truck at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Jafar Iqbal, 45, son of late Abdul Masud of Hoseniganj area under Rajshahi City Corporation, Sundari, 60, wife of Munir of Thakur Joubon Para under Godgari upazila and Aduri, 35, of the same area.


The injured were Sumi Rani, 40, Suven, 42, and Wasim, 35.

Godagari Police Station officer-in-charge Ruhul Amin said that the ambulance was transporting a patient from Godagari Upazila Health Complex to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on early Monday.

When the ambulance reached Rajabari Checkpost area, it collided with a truck, leaving three people dead on the spot, he said.

The police official said that the injured were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where they were undergoing treatment.

‘The truck driver fled the scene after the incident. Police are trying to identify the vehicle, and a case will be filed regarding the accident,’ he added.
