At least four people, including a local union parishad chairman, were injured in a crude bomb attack at Baroghoria Bazar in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila Thursday night.

Among the injured, UP chairman Harun-Ur-Rashid was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital while three others took primary treatment from Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital.


Quoting injured, Motiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar model police station, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that a group of local terrorists, led by Rakib, exploded several crude bombs in front of a telecom shop where UP chairman Harun was sitting with others.

Later, the terrorists picked up Harun on a motorcycle, took him somewhere far away, and beat there, the OC said.

The police official said that Ali Hasan Asif, treasurer of Baroghoria Bazar Banik Samiti, filed a case with the police station and they had arrested one named accused.

The incident might have happened following a conflict about setting up stalls on the bank of Mahananda River, he added.

Anwar Mahmud, on-duty doctor at Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital, said that UP chairman Harun suffered a fracture on his right hand.

‘Considering the seriousness of his condition, we referred him to RMCH at night’, he added.
