A couple was killed and their daughter was injured after a pickup van hit them while they were crossing the road in the capital鈥檚 Jatrabari on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Jabbar, 52, and his wife Ruma Khanan, 40.
Their daughter Jui Akhter, 14, was injured and she is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Jatrabari police station sub-inspector Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan Irfan said that a speeding pickup van hit them while they were crossing the road in the morning, leaving Runa dead on the spot.
鈥楯abbar was critically injured and local people took Jabbar to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries,鈥� he said.
The police official also said that they seized the pickup van but the driver managed to flee the scene.
