At least five people were killed and 19 others injured in road accidents in Chattogram, Madaripur and Thakurgaon on Monday.聽

抖阴精品 staff correspondent in Chattogram reported that two people were killed and four others injured when a microbus crashed into the rear of a dump truck on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Sitakunda in the district.


Baroawlia highway police station sub-inspector Nurul Absar said that family members and relatives of the deceased were traveling from Narayanganj to Cox鈥檚 Bazar for a trip in a microbus.

The deceased, Anowar Hossain, 62, died on the spot while Bibi Rahima, 56, succumbed to her injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.聽聽

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that two people were killed and 15 other injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway at Munshibazar under Shibchar in Madaripur.

The deceased were Bacchu Mia, 37, hailed from West Bhasantek in Dhaka and Manik, 39, hailed from Kachpur in Dhaka.

were heading toward the capital boarding on a pickup and the pickup fell down beside the road as another vehicle hit the pickup from behind in Munshi Bazaar area.聽

Meanwhile, the BSS reported that an elderly pedestrian was killed as a truck hit him at Bhaular Hat on Thakurgaon-Pirganj road in Thakurgaon Sadar.

The deceased was Gias Uddin, 75, a resident of Harinarayanpur Molla Para village in the upazila.

Thakurgaon Fire Service and Civil Defense deputy assistant director Md Sahidul Islam said that the accident occurred around 12:30pm when Gias Uddin was crossing the road, leaving him dead on the spot.
