
At least one person was killed and 15 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Habiganj on Wednesday over establishing supremacy in the area.
The deceased is Kazi Dipu, 40, the police said.
Local people said that there was a long-standing feud between Farid Miah and Shanta Miah of Kalni village under the sadar upazila in the district.
Relatives and supporters of the both the persons armed with locally made sharp weapons locked in a clash in the afternoon and more than 15 people of the rival sides were injured in the hour-long clash, they said.
Habiganj Sadar police station officer-in-charge Alamgir Kabir confirmed the incident to ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.
He said that Kazi Dipu, a supporter of Farid Miah, died on his way to a local hospital.
The body was sent to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital for a post-mortem examination, he said.
