
Fisheries and livestock adviser Farida Akhter urged the newly appointed government officials to work intensively for ensuring safe and quality animal protein for all as Bangladesh is enriched with fisheries and animal resources.
‘Bangladesh is full of vast resources …but the problem is many fisheries and animal species are on the verge of extinction, so the youth officials have to come forward to retrieve those extinct species,’ she said.
The adviser was addressing an inaugural function of orientation course for newly appointed 43rd BCS (animal) and BCS (fisheries) cadre officials at BCS Livestock Academy in Savar of Dhaka district Wednesday afternoon, said a press release on Thursday.
With director general of the department of livestock services M Abu Sufian in chair, the event was addressed, among others, by additional secretary of the ministry of fisheries and livestock Syeda Nawara Jahan, DG of the department of fisheries M Abdur Rauf and DG of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Shakila Faruque.
BCS Livestock Academy director AKM Humayun Kabir gave a welcome address at the function. Newly appointed 95 officials from the BCS livestock cadre and 38 from BCS fisheries cadre attended the programme.
