
Incidents of robbery and theft have increased in the capital over the past three months with 61 robberies and 297 thefts recorded from September to November.
A total of 14 robbery incidents were reported in September, 20 reported in October, and 27 in November, according to the Police Headquarters crime statistics of the past three months published on its website on Sunday.
The data also shows 75 thefts reported in September, 97 in October, and 125 in November.
Enamul Haque Sagor, assistant inspector general of police for media and public relations posted at the force’s headquarters, said that they were trying their level best to contain crimes in Dhaka city as elsewhere across the country.
‘We have increased patrolling and check posts in the city and other places in the country,’ he added.
Total 394 robberies and 2,042 thefts were reported across the country in the past three months in September–November, the PHQ statistics showed.
Of the robbery incidents, 104 were reported in September, 157 reported in October and 133 in November.
Of the thefts, 605 incidents were reported in September, 722 in October, and 716 in November.
