
Milestone College held a freshers’ reception, prize giving ceremony and cultural programme on its permanent campus in the capital’s Diabari on Thursday.Â
New students of class XI in the 2024-25 academic years were ceremonially welcomed with floral greetings, said a press release on Friday.Â
Principal of the college Mohammad Ziaul Alam presided over the ceremony while former divisional commissioner of Dhaka Md Abdul Bari was present as chief guest in the ceremony.
Founder and adviser of the college retired colonel Nurun Nabi, executive principal of Milestone Preparatory KG School Rifat Nabi Alam, vice-principal for administration of the college Md Masud Alam were present as special guest at the ceremony.
The college’s vice-principals, directors, teachers, and guardians were also present at the reception ceremony.
The event observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the recent student-led mass uprising.
In the prize distribution phase, the chief guest Md Abdul Bari and the special guest Colonel Nuran Nabi handed over prize to the students who demonstrated their talent in curricular and co-curricular activities.
The cultural programme performances featured students’ solo and group songs, dances, drama and fashion shows.
Popular singer Zakia Sultana Kornia also performed in the ceremony.
