The body of an elderly man was recovered from a pond in Najirpur village of Begumganj upazila in Noakhali on Thursday morning, a day after he went missing.
The floating body of Abdul Motalib, 75, a resident of Mujahidpur village in the upazila, was recovered at around 10:00am from a pond of Khasru Mia, a resident of Najirpur village.
Begumganj police officer-in-charge Liton Dewan said that the deceased who was suffering from mental illness fell into the pond and died.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his family without a post-mortem examination as they did not file any complaint, the OC added.听
