
A two-day international conference titled ‘Revisiting the Canon: Reading British and American Literatures from Contemporary Perspectives’ began at Rajshahi University on Friday.
The RU English department and the Association of Teachers of Literatures in English, Bangladesh has jointly organised the conference where over 200 academicians, researchers, and writers from home and abroad are taking part.
RU vice-chancellor professor Saleh Hasan Naqib inaugurated the inaugural ceremony of the conference at the university’s Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Senate Building at 10:00am.
Pro-vice-chancellor (administration) professor Mohammad Main Uddin, and pro-vice-chancellor (academic) professor Farid Uddin Khan, RU institute of English and other languages director professor Maswood Akhter, English department chair professor Mominul Islam, and Dhaka University English department professor Tahmina Ahmed addressed the inaugural ceremony.
At the event, five keynote speeches, two plenary sessions, and 61 papers were presented on various aspects of British and American literary tradition and how the tradition relates to present time.
