A former employee of Bangladesh Krishi Bank was beaten to death early Thursday.

The deceased, Mohammad Abdul Halim, 63, was a former collective bargaining agreement leader of BKB.


Abdul Halim was beaten by miscreants Wednesday evening in Motijheel of Dhaka. Later, local people rescued and rushed Abdul Halim to Motijheel Islamia Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead at about 1:30am Thursday.

Mohammad Emon Hossain, who took Abdul Halim at the DMCH, said that a group of individuals engaged in an argument with Halim of Sadar Para village in Boalkhali of Chattogram and beat him severely.

Motijheel police station officer-in-charge Mejbah Uddin said that Abdul Halim was beaten over a previous dispute with colleagues.

However, no case was filed over the matter yet, said the OC.
