
A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Monday allowed the police to take former Awami League lawmaker for Chattogram-15, Abu Reza Mohammad Nezamuddin Nadwi, in custody for one day for interrogation in a case of killing a student during the recent student-mass uprising.
Metropolitan magistrate Mostafizur Rahman passed the order as detective branch of police produced Nadvi before the court in the case lodged with Lalbagh police station and sought a 10-day remand for the former lawmaker.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police鈥檚 spokesperson Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that a team of DMP鈥檚 detective branch arrested Nadwi at Uttara in the capital Sunday evening.
He said that Nadvi was shown arrested in a case filed with the Lalbagh police station for killing Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the student-mass uprising on July 18 in the Azimpur Government Residential Area.
Nadwi was elected lawmaker for Chattogram-15 constituency with Awami League ticket in the parliamentary elections in 2014 and 2018.
