
At least 5 leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party were wounded in a factional clash of the party at Gorpara High School ground under Sharsha upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The injured Al Mamun, 45, joint convener of Sharsha upazila unit of Juba Dal, Shahidul Islam, 40, convener of Benapole Municipality unit of Swechchhasebok Dal, BNP activist Ripon Hossain, 35, and Raqib Hossain, 33, were rushed to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex, said police and hospital sources.
Ashraful Alam Babu, member of the convening committee of Sharsha upazila BNP unit, said two groups of the party locked in clashes for not inviting some influential leaders of the party at a rally arranged by a faction of the party on Gorpara High School ground.
Amir Abbas, officer in-charge of Sharsha police station, said BNP members locked in clashes over arranging a rally at Gorpara High School on Tuesday afternoon.
No case was lodged in this connection.
