Bangladesh strengthens agricultural trade through a successful sanitary and phytosanitary system workshop at a Dhaka hotel on Sunday.聽

Bangladesh made a significant stride toward enhancing its agricultural trade capacity with the successful completion of the workshop, organised under the Feed the Future Sanitary and Phytosanitary System Trade Capacity Building Programme, said a press release.


The workshop was hosted by the centre for agriculture and bioscience international with technical assistance of USDA/FAS and USAID funding. The event was chaired by Md Shafi Uddin, director of the plant quarantine wing, department of agricultural extension while SM Suhrab Uddin, director of the plant protection wing, was present as chief guest.

The senior officials from agriculture ministry, plant quarantine wing, plant protection wing, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, commerce ministry, academia from agricultural universities and representatives from USAID, USDA, APAARI, and private sector representatives were present.

The event brought together 40 key stakeholders to tackle critical challenges in aligning the country鈥檚 agricultural practices with international SPS standards.
