‘Anti-Fascist Students and Citizens’ on Wednesday organised a symbolic ‘Coffin March of Fascism’ at Dhaka University, demanding a ban on the fascist forces, including the Awami League and Jatiya Party.

The procession began at noon with a symbolic coffin, starting from the Teacher Student Centre and marched round the Faculty of Arts building and concluded in front of Madhu’s Canteen.

The coffin march was attended by the leaders and activists of the Chhatra Odhikar Parishad and Gono Odhikar Parishad, along with activists from other organisations.

During the march, participants chanted slogans such as ‘We fear no death in the fall of fascism’, ‘Fascism has no place in Bengal,’ ‘Awami League has no place in Bengal,’ and ‘Abu Sayeed-Mughda, the fight isn’t over.’

Earlier, at around 11:30am, a brief rally was held at the TSC where Chhatra Odhikar Parishad president Md Bin Yamin Mollah said, ‘If the chief adviser thinks that the people of this country want the Awami League return, then organise a referendum on the issue.’

He urged the advisers to maintain the spirit of the July movement and ban both the Awami League and Jatiya Party in the interest of the country’s development.

Referring to the absence of a complete list of the victims killed in the uprising, Bin Yamin Molla further stated that those involved in the murders of the martyrs have not been arrested. Proper medical care is not being provided to the injured, he also alleged.

‘Tell us what steps have been taken regarding the soaring prices of essentials,’ he further asked the government.

Ziaur Rahman Zia, another organiser of the event, said, ‘Even 100 days after the fall of fascism, fascists are trying to regain power. We see they visit ministries, and participate in the advisory council meetings.

‘Students and citizens will be united again to drive them out,’ he said.
