Leaders of National Garment Workers Federation on Friday at a protest rally in Dhaka called on the interim government to take actions against some garment factory owners for destabilising the readymade garment sector.

The NGWF organised the rally in front of the National Press Club where its president Amirul Haque Amin chaired.

Amirul Haque Amin said that some factory owners of Gazipur and Ashulia were not paying wages of the garment workers deliberately though they had ability to pay wages of the workers.

As a result, the workers of the factories are waging movements in demand of their wages blocking roads in the area, Amirul Haque Amin said.

He called on the interim government to take actions against the owners who did not pay wages regularly.

General secretary of the organisation Rafiqul Islam, central leaders Jesmin Akter, Faridul Islam, Mohammad Kabir Hossain and others spoke at the rally.

The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
