A woman was killed on Wednesday as she received a bullet in her head while watching a clash between two groups of suspected drug peddlers at Bauniabadh under Pallabi in the capital from her home.

The deceased is Ayesha Akhter, 26.

The incident occurred in the afternoon when a miscreant opened fire at his opponent but missed his target and the bullet hit the woman staying inside her house, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner for Mirpur zone, Maksuder Rahman, said.

He said that the clash occurred over establishing supremacy in the area for drug peddling. ‘The woman died on the spot,’ he said.

The police officer said that they were investigating the matter.

Eyewitnesses said that a man named Momin opened fire at his opponent Mamun but the bullet hit the woman as Momin missed the target.

‘More than 20 people had been beating a man. Two or three of the attackers had firearms with them and some were armed with sharp weapons,’ an eyewitness said.

He said that they could hear sounds of firing in the area and the victim was seeing the incident from the window of a staircase of her house when she received the bullet.
