Philanthropist Brahmanda Pratap Barua and Dharmakirti Mahathero on Wednesday presented 217 volumes of the Holy Tripitaka for use in the library of the Dhaka University Pali and Buddhist Studies department.
He also handed over a cheque of Tk 1 lakh to the DU vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan for providing scholarships to underprivileged students of the department, said a DU press release on Thursday.
The DU pro-VC Professor Mamun Ahmed, treasurer Professor Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, adjunct professor of Pali and Buddhist Studies department Sukomal Barua, chairman of the department Neeru Bara, secretary of Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust Joy Dutta Barua, Bhikkhu Sunandapriya, among others, were present on the occasion.
