North South University’s Career and Placement Centre on Wednesday hosted the Grameenphone Next Business Leader programme, a flagship event designed to inspire and guide students toward successful careers in the telecommunications industry.

A key event highlight was signing a memorandum of understanding between the NSU and the GP, said a press release on Wednesday.


This strategic partnership is set to create numerous opportunities for both parties, fostering collaboration and opening new doors for the NSU students to gain real-world experience in one of the world’s leading telecom institutions.

The NSU vice-chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury emphasised the crucial role of industry exposure in developing future leaders at the event, stating, ‘This partnership with Grameenphone provides our students with invaluable opportunities to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional excellence.’

The event was graced by from Grameenphone, including Syed Masud Mahmood, head of HR strategy, partnering and recruitment operations; Rifaqat Rasheed, head of talent management and Governance; Ashfaque Hossain, employer brand expert; Fyeeza Fyruz, digital development and innovation manager, and Aurthima Naznoor, HR business partner.

Syed Masud Mahmood emphasised the significance of early career development, stating, ‘Grameenphone’s Next Business Leader program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring business professionals to learn from experts and gain real-world experience.’

Professor Mohammad Khasro Miah, director of the CPC, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying, ‘This partnership reflects our commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, creating pathways for our students to thrive in the corporate world.’

Nearly 300 NSU students attended the event, where they had the opportunity to interact directly with Grameenphone executives.
